HA GIANG LOOP

Number 1 of things you must do in Vietnam is the Ha Giang loop. A trip with a motorcycle that takes you trough little villages, allong stunning mountain passes and of course the rice fields. Plan 4 days to discover and enjoy the authentic North Vietnam.

PHONG NHA

Phong Na is a place that most backpackers skip during their travels in Vietnam, it's a shame if you ask us. What a nice, quiet place where you can visit the most beautiful caves, take a dive into the mud, walk trough a 'botanical jungle garden' and enjoy the most beautiful sunsets.

CAT BA

If you are looking for a place to chill out, Cat Ba is the place to be. It has the same views as you get on Ha Long Bay but is more quiet. You can just lay down on the beach or take a boat trip to go kajaking, snorkeling and see monkeys@ monkey island. (tip: victor charlie hostel offers the cheapest tours).  Be carefull not to been biten by an ape though.

HANOI

4 DAYS

We stayed in Hanoi for 4 days. the first day we had a jetlag, so we did not do much. Day 2 we decided to look around the 'Ho Chi Minh' quarter of the city. On the 3th day we went  to the Perfume Pegoda, that was a really good idea. The last day we took the train for 17 hours to go to Da Nang.

 DA NANG & HOI AN

10 DAYS

The first day we were again really tired from the train ride so we decided to sleep for a little bit. After that we went to the beach. Day 2 we started a workaway for 5 days. In that time we visited the lady buddha statue, took a motorbike over monkey mountain, to Hoi An (to make some clothes) and visited a secret beach. After the workaway we decided to spend 1 night in Hoi An. After that we slept 2 more nights in Da Nang (in a good hotel) and visited My Son. On the last day we took the train to Hue.

HUE

2 DAYS

We spend our first day in Hue at the emperial city. Day 2 we took a tour to see the 5 lakes in Bach Ma National park. We were really glad to have a little nature but a little sad to miss the tombs. From Hue we  took a sleepingbus to Phong Nha.

PHONG NHA

4 DAYS

Phong Nha was awesome. We enjoyed our hostel with pool, took a bike trough the valley to visit the duck stop, visited the dark cave and the botanical garden. A real top spot to end your day is the Farmstay! Again we took a sleeperbus to Cat Ba.

CAT BA

5 DAYS

To get into Cat Ba we had to take 3 busses and a boat, but still we got there whithout any problem. We took a boat trip to Ha long bay and that was marvelous. After that we went to the hospital, planned our trip, visited the cannonfort and enjoyed the beach. After a quick stop in Hanoi we took the sleeperbus to Ha Giang.

HA GIANG & SAPA

5 DAYS

Ha Giang was the best thing we did in Vietnam. taking the loop was so awesome and we were so sad we only did the 2 day loop. So take your time to do the loop. Sapa is beautiful but very touristy. If you want to enjoy the real beauty of the north, Ha Giang is the place to be. ( we had to go to Sapa in order to get our connection to Laos)
