SALENTO
The stunning! Cocora valley at itself is quite touristy. However, if you have the chance we highly advise you to go on a mountainbike trip into an undiscovered part of the forest. And as you can see, we are head over heels on (eachother) and this place. also, there is a lot to discover in Salento and the neigbouring villages. So it is definitily worthwhile passing trough.
MEDELLIN
Medellin is a tourist favorite. And the only thing that we can do is agree. Medellin has multiple different neigbourhouds. They all tell a unique story, so you can learn more over the city every day. It is a literal translation of a concrete jungle, and that is were we feel at home.

FINDING THE LOST CITY
If you get the chance to sleep in a jungle for 3 days and you get to 'discover' a city in the middle of the jungle, We say YES!

MEDELLIN
4 DAYS
We stayed in Medellin for 4 days. the first day we went on a free walking tour, so we quickly discovered more about Colombia, Colombians and their persistance and the different 'barrios' of Medellin.
Day 2 we went and visited Moravia, a part of the city that is on top of a garbage mountain, there we discovered more about the transformations in the different neighborhoods. We higly recomend doing this tour with 'real city tours'.
Day 3 we went with @anotherpaisaguide to guatape, were we paraglided, tasted some delicious colombian foods and visited 'the rock'. The last day we hopped on a bus to Jardin (4 hours).
JARDIN
1 DAY, 2 NIGHTS
Jardin, a place where you can find Colombian cowboys, peace, tranquility and breath taking walks with waterfalls. If you are in Jardin, go for one of the amazing hikes and enjoy the little town. You can also take 'La Garrucha', a cable cart in the middle of the town. The second day, we took a series of busses to arrive in Salento. If you want to hike more we can recomend staying here another day, for us this was just fine.
SALENTO
4 DAYS
On our first full day in Salento we visited the Cocora Valley. We somehow missed the main entrance, but after a (sometimes quite steep) hike we found the trees, hidden behind the mist. Cocora is beautifull, but touristy. If you can, go early in the morning, that way you can hopefully visit it without the crowds and the rain.
Our second day, we went and explored Salento by mountainbike. We had a lunch in the middle of an empty part of the valley and it was AMAZING. We highly recomend doing this with'Salento cycling'. After that, we played a few games of 'Tejo'.
Day 3 we visited a coffee farm and celebrated our engagement in Filandia, where 'Helena Adentro' had some amazing food and some amazing views.
Day 4 we took a plane to the caribbian coast.
SANTA MARTA + LOST CITY
5 DAYS
Santa Marta is the place were you can start the 3 day hike to the lost city. During the hike you walk trough the jungle in different stages. Before you gain acces to the lost city you have the conquer the 'happy hour' and 1250 steps. Totally worth it though!
We wouldn't recommend staying in Santa Martha for too long, exept for eating, there is not so much to do
CARTAGENA
4 DAYS
Colorfull streets, a beautiful old part, good food and good shopping possibilities. Let's say that we liked Cartagena and it was an awesome destination after spending 3 days in the jungle.
If you can, go and eat breakfast or sleep at Casa Jaguar Cartagena. We loved it there!
We also took a day trip to 'Blue apple beach' and highly recomend this if you don't have time to visit one of the islands.
ISLA GRANDE
3 DAYS
Blue water, sunshine and tranquillity, do we need to say more? That's what we found on Isla grande. We did almost nothing but still enjoyed snorkeling (also in the laggoon), diving and sunning there. This was a calming stay before we went back to Belgium.
